Robert J. Downing, a shareholder in Greenberg Traurig’s Miami and Houston offices, has more than 30 years’ experience in energy, infrastructure, finance, mergers and acquisitions, and project development, with substantial experience in procurement matters. He represents several energy companies and construction entities investing in Mexico.
Prior to joining the firm, Robert was Associate General Counsel at Duke Energy International (DEI), a subsidiary of Duke Energy, the largest electric utility in the United States. Among his responsibilities at DEI were drafting and negotiating equipment, parts and services contracts for seven countries, as well as EPC and O&M agreements throughout Latin America and Saudi Arabia. He previously served as Senior Attorney at the Cisneros Group, a Venezuelan conglomerate with global operations.
Robert earned his undergraduate degree from Columbia College and has a J.D.-M.B.A. from Columbia University. He also holds an LL.M. in Energy, Environmental and Natural Resources Law from the University of Houston Law Center.
