Mr. Aguilar is since 2017 the Founder and CEO of Petroships LLC a company promoted by private equity funds to invest in Mexican Midstream and Maritime Logistic assets including tankers, tugboats and ports form 2008 to 2017 Mr. Aguilar served as representative of McQuilling Partner’s Inc. in Mexico City and Managing Director of McQuilling de Mexico with a Advisory role since May 2017. With a major in Law by the «Universidad Iberoamericana» in Mexico City, and a diploma in specialization of Maritime Law, Mr. Aguilar began his career in the industry at a very young age.

With over 21 years of experience in the Maritime industry and a vast expertise in shipping, ports, port management & administration; customs and international commerce in general, Mr. Aguilar has served as CEO, managing director and consultant in many companies related to the maritime industry and ports; some examples are: Transunisa, Compañía Terminal de Manzanillo, Vopak Manzanillo, Manjalba Manzanillo, Terminal Marítima de Veracruz, Q-Logistics, TLM, amongst others.

Mr. Aguilar has served as a member of the Mexican Association of Shipping Agents (Asociación Mexicana de Agentes Navieros); of the Council of Supply Chain Management, Mexican Chapter; American Chamber of Mexico; Chamber of commerce Mexico- Germany (Cámara de Comercio México-Alemana); and is a founding member of the National Association of Marine and Port Terminals (Asociación Nacional de Terminales Marítimas y Portuarias).

Academically Mr. Aguilar has taught maritime law; and logistics in the “Universidad de Colima” and the “Universidad Michoacana”. He has collaborated as a columnist and article writer for several magazines and publications related with logistics and transportation. An example of some of his publications and collaborations are:

Most recently, Mr. Aguilar was invited by PEMEX to give a lecture in “Norms and regulations on the International Maritime Transportation of Oil and Oil Products” in the

“First Congress of Logistics and Oil Transportation” organized by Pemex, in Guadalajara (Feb. 2012) and Maritime transportation of refined products in the 4th Congress of Logistics and Oil Transportation organized by Pemex, in Veracruz (Oct 2015).

Through all of his efforts and hard work, Mr. Aguilar has managed to earn respect and thrust within PEMEX and the Mexican shipowners.

McQuilling de Mexico became one of the most important consultants within several divisions of PEMEX, working with 4 of the 5 subsidiaries: Pemex Exploración & Producción, Pemex Refinación, PMI Comercio Internacional and Pemex Petroquímica. McQuilling de Mexico has served as a consultant for the MR market, having advised Pemex Refinación on the 10 MR tankers purchase program in the last 2 years; the Suezmax market for PEP, and recently with the LPG market with PPQ granting day to day assistance and advisory for their new purchase program; consulting in the international market, rates analysis, comparative analysis in contractual conditions, S&P, and technical and commercial assistance. Working closely with PEP, in their “VP of Distribution and Commerce” and the “VP of Field Development”; McQuilling de Mexico has rapidly moved into more specialized markets, serving as head consultant of 3 FPSO and 1 FSO projects, which have proven to be some of the most important projects within PEMEX in the past 5 years.

In the brokerage area, McQuilling de Mexico focused in the S&P market and the offshore markets. With a growing market share, McQuilling de Mexico has done several S&P, TC and BBC deals for PSVs, FSVs, tugs, and barges. Working with a vast number of shipowners and other markets such as mining and the chemical sectors; McQuilling de México has quickly expanded in the last 10 years due Mr. Aguilar´s efforts.
